Chelsea M. Cameron

Who recognizes this luscious and festive treat?  The St. Patrick's day inspired ice-cream equivalent to the famous 'McRib' sandwich?  My next guest surely does.  In typical fashion, I've asked Chelsea M. Cameron author of My Favorite Mistake and Deeper We Fall to share her favorite St. Patrick's day memory.  Taking time away from her current project, Faster We Fall, Chelsea has shared with us her love of this delectable fast food commodity.

When most people think of Saint Patrick's Day, they think of green beer, the Irish and pots of gold. I've never been much of a celebrator of the holiday, but there is one thing that comes along every Saint Patrick's Day that I celebrate the crap out of.

The Shamrock Shake. That electric green confection from McDonald's that shows up at the end of February and is only around for a fleeting time, but enough time for me to suck down more than a few of them.

For those of you not familiar with this treat, it's a vanilla/mint hybrid shake with whipped cream and a cherry on top. If you've never have one, STOP AND GO GET ONE RIGHT NOW. I'LL WAIT….

Now, I'm not a huge fan of mint, but the vanilla guts down on the harsh flavor, so it's more of an aftertaste. A little kick at the end of your sip and oh so delicious.

I don't know what they put in them, but probably at least some crack, because those things are addictive. I hear the siren song of the Shamrock Shake every time I drive by the McDonald's, which also happens to be twenty minutes from my house, which is a good thing. If it was closer, I'd drink one every day.

I have no idea what the nutrition facts are on this thing either, SO DON'T TELL ME. I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. Yes, I'm sure there are plenty of super bad things in it, but I just can't say no. There's just something about that electric green sweet and minty thing. It calls and I pick up. Every. Time.

If I were Taylor Swift, I would write a song about how I feel at the end of every April when the shake goes away and my pain at waiting for it to be available again the next year.

That's some serious love there, people.  Don't mess with a girl and her Shamrock Shake...it could get you written into a song - or a book.   And, since this short, non-endorsed advertisement only added to the level of enjoyment I get when reading Chelsea's writings, I'm assuming you all want more too.  So here's your chance.  Enter the Rafflecopter below, and on Sunday one lucky winner will get an eCopy of Deeper We Fall.  Good luck everyone!
