Pam once again, made me fall in love with her stories and writing style in BUCKLED! I couldn't get enough of Jarret and Maybe!
BUCKLED is book 2 in Pam Godwin's TRAILS OF SIN series. It picks up right where the first book (BOOTED) left off. This is Jarret Holsten (whom we met in book 1) and Maybelline's (aka Maybe) story (whom we met briefly at the end of book 1). It is an enemies to lovers type of story, with insta-chemistry that was UNDENIABLE. Pam Godwin elegantly wrote the connection between these two characters and made each denied encounter loaded with such powerful s*xual tension that when Jarret and Maybe FINALLY buckled under the pressure of their want for each other, it was like a thunder storm! ELECTRIFYING! The push and pull between them was HOT! Jarret's more kinky needs fueled the hidden desires in Maybe and make for one steamy read. #RopePlay #Flogger
Told from dual POV's. A story built on distrust and secrets, family bonds and blood shed, Maybe and Jarret had a lot to work through. There was a perfect amount of mystery, angst, and kink *wink* to keep the reader entertained the whole time. The story line was entertaining and had me laughing out loud, swooning, lusting, heartbroken and falling in love right along with the characters. And the continuation of the series makes the reader even more invested in the series and craving to learn how this all ends. I would consider this book more on the "lighter of dark" sides. There is some darker elements still at play in the story line, but it's more geared towards the kink and connection between Maybe and Jarret, but with a continuation of the main story line from book 1 in the background, that was more of the darker stuff.
I do have to say, being a farmer myself, I found some scenes in this book QUITE entertaining and realistic. I especially loved Maybe's calf, Chicken. Oh and I loved that we get glimpses of what Conor and Jake's life is like now. Thus far, this is my favorite in the series. The pace was perfect, I loved reading about the relationship between Jarret and Maybe and how it grew as they worked side by side on the ranch. I simply enjoyed everything about this book! Pam definitely set up even more intrigue with Lorne's character. I am VERY interested to see how his story is going to go. His book will be the conclusion to the TRAILS OF SINS series about corruption, deceit, love and power, so I anticipate LOTS of angst and more blood shed. These 4 will do ANYTHING to protect what and who they love.
