"How far would you go to protect the one you love? To the ends of the earth."Idk if this was just an "it's me, not you" type situation or the fact that it's summer and I am SUPER busy with summer activities and life or it's just this particular plot, but I struggled connecting with this book and it took me longer than usual to read it. Don't get me wrong, the writing was captivating WHILE I was reading (I can always say that about Kristy's writing) and I did enjoy the main characters banter and chemistry, but at times I struggled with the back and forth, push and pull between the two. The resistance! It all got a bit tedious for me, which lead to me taking bigger than usual breaks in between chapters.
With all that being said, I am a big fan of Kristy's stories, so I have faith that she will end up bringing me a story that I love once it's all said and done. Because I AM curious to see where this story goes! I want to further read about how Ryker and Vaughn's internal defenses and walls come crumbling down and they FULLY let each other in. I am hopeful that these two characters get past their constant stubbornness and finally COMMUNICATE with each other sooner rather than later, but man, that cliffy left them in a not so stable place relationship-wise. Also, there was some plot points that I am intrigued to see how they play out in the next book (especially that cliffy at the end).
