REVIEW:

Wow…just wow. I swear Pam Godwin’s novels get better and better with everyone I read! It took me several days to put my emotional thoughts into coherent sentences enough to write this review. I still don’t think I will be able to fully articulate how EXTRAORDINARLY CAPTIVATING this book (and series) was. I am in complete and utter book hangover mode, dare I say it’s the worst I have ever experienced, and that’s all thanks to Pam Godwin’s PHENOMENAL ability to completely crumble me to a mess of a woman and be completely attached to fictional characters. Going into this last and final novel in the Tangled Lies trilogy, I knew that my heart was GOING to bleed. There was GOING to be tears shed. And I was GOING to be left utterly spent. ALL those things happened and then some. I giggled, I smiled, I swooned, I cried, I hurt, I yearned, I loved, I mourned and I dreaded the ending with every fiber of my being. I NEEDED Danni to find her HEA, but at the expense of ripping out half her heart was daunting to say the least. Pam Godwin’s ability to thoroughly consume the reader with varying emotions is unprecedented. I can say I have NEVER felt this torn in two while reading a book. I begged in my mind that there be a way for Danni to end up with both men, but I knew that Pam wasn’t going to take the “easy” way out and because of that, there was no ending that would be a HEA for everyone involved…someone was going to “lose”. *tears*

“I need them with a yearning that can only end in more heartache.”

In THREE IS A WAR, all the lies and omissions were brought to light and there was no rock unturned, no emotion hidden. Danni, Cole and Trace put their hearts on the line and bared their souls in this book. Both men were “going to war” for this woman, but instead of there being bloodshed, they were rivaling on an emotional and intellectual level. They were strategically striving to prove who had the deeper connection with her to show to Danni WHY she should choose one over the other. And boy did they make that decision hard on her. “We’ve shared you, fought each other for you, broken laws to keep you. We’re both so eaten up I love with you there isn’t anything we won’t do.” –Trace. Danni was pulled both directions with each individual encounter. Each time she thought she knew who her heart was telling her to pick, it would turn with a glance shared, or a whispered touch, or a lingering kiss. Unfortunately, this isn’t the kind of decision she could make on a whim. She has to think with her heart. But the heart isn’t logical. Sometimes, we don’t know what we want until it’s gone. She’s trying to determine if she needs to go back to her “first love” (Cole) or give her “second chance at love” (Trace) a chance. Both men are amazing choices, but only one is the right choice. Her mom gave her the best advice in this book: “Relationships are hard work. Love is hard work. Whether you choose Cole or Trace, make sure you pick the one you’re willing to work the hardest for.” Now, Danni has to dig deep within herself to figure out WHO that someone is.

“I fell in love with two men and lost myself. I’ll stay in love with one and find myself again.”

This novel (and series) was not only about finding the one that makes your heart beat, but it was about finding yourself amongst all this love and turmoil. I do NOT envy the decision Danni had to make, but I applaud her for the strength in which she did so. Feeling like your heart is literally being torn in two, is excruciating to experience and yet a blessing…who is lucky enough to have not one but TWO men who love you unconditionally?

“Love happened twice, and I have no regrets, even if the situation feels impossible, even if the looming decision makes me believe I will never survive it. As much as I fear the future, it isn’t going away until it shows me what I need to do.”

I truly believe that this series will be forever in my top love-triangles read. The flawless writing style that Pam has is all-consuming and riveting. I felt as if once I got to the 50% mark, I was reading with one eye closed because I knew that I was getting close to the pinnacle of the whole series…the decision was coming and I wasn’t quite prepared for it. My heart crashed and broke into a million pieces several times by the end, and then it was mending back together, but with slight cracks that will never disappear. I will not say what side I am on (#TeamCole or #TeamTrace), but I will say that I am extremely happy with how this series ended and I’m overjoyed that Danni found the man whom makes her heart beat and picked a whom brings rhythm back into her life.

10 stars!
