MY REVIEW:

5 + Stars

In Manwhore we met - and ultimately fell in love with - Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint.  We envied and admired Rachel Livingston.   Manwhore + 1 expands on those feelings, and you're left with a feeling of loss when you reach the final page.  Katy's ability to make the fanciful realistic is a refreshing talent not seen often enough.   Not only does she create characters that you see your own best friends reflected in, but she's also manage to make a little word like "DIBS" infamous, and she's turned a simple corner kiss into the most desirable of seduction tactics.  And that was just with book 1.  What she managed to do to me with book 2 was absolute sorcery.

I'd do it all again for another moment with him.

After one of the most frustrating cliffhangers I've ever read, Manwhore +1 resumes the story exactly where it left off with, at the offices of M4 with Rachel about to see Saint for the first time in four weeks.   She's not sure what is about to transpire, but she's hopeful that he's ready for them to talk through what had happened. What ultimately ends up happening, though, is Saint offering her a job with Interface.  In her mind, knowing that he's never touched any of his employees, she is convinced the job offer is a sign of their absolute ending.  She refuses the job, reinforcing that the only thing she really wants is him.

No.   I work for what I most want.  I win it, or I don't feel like it's mine at all.

We don't have to wait long before we begin to see more of the things we loved about Manwhore, as Saint lures Rachel back to him, and at his insistence, the two of them take things slow.  The story never does explain it clearly, but I took this as yet another of Saint's efforts to truly earn what he has, to make it his own rather than to have it fall into his lap at the manipulation of others.

In a world where he can buy anything he wants, I'm his littlest thing.  And he's my biggest, grandest thing.

Saint proves once again that billionaire doesn't have to mean untouchable.  Yes, he's sin on a stick and every woman wants him, but he's also down to earth and maintains a boyish charm that no other book boyfriend has.  He acknowledges that other women are available to him, and that he can have nearly any woman he wants.  But none of them are Rachel.  None of them make him feel like he is everything by being nothing more than the man he is.

I'm a challenge to you, Saint.  You'll finally get me and then you'll be done with me.

Rachel is still battling her own demons through the book.  She has already told Saint that she loves him, before things went bad.   She knows that she is still in love with him, but she's afraid of what he will do if she tells him.  Is she protecting her heart, or their relationship?  I'm not entirely sure, but her uncertainty is definitely there.

You use something you discard.  And I'll never be done with you.

And to top things off, there's Saint's romantic side.  Popping up left and right throughout the book, reminding us why we waited so long for the second installment of this series.  All the things that we went through our lives without for months while we anxiously anticipated his return.   I spent the entirety of this book reading his lines with a goofy grin on my face.  I can guarantee that you'll end up with what I now refer to as "Saint face" as well.
