Ready? Ready? And, go!
Nicki has come to realize that she can’t fix everything

intends to educate people by tackling one small problem at a time. Now, there’s a woman on city council who’s
growing a little too big for her britches and stirring up trouble in
Winchester, dividing citizens into two clear sides—her side and the other—and
Nicki plans to expose her for what she is.
In the meantime, Nicki hurts Sean and risks losing him for good.

But she did appreciate that he was feeling apologetic. So she sat up and stretched out her shoulders
and rolled her neck. Sean held out his
hand and she took it but didn’t say a word.
He led her to the bathroom and she walked in. Sure enough, the tub was full of bubbles and
a little steam. Damn. Why couldn’t she ever get bubble baths to make bubbles like that? But she reached in the medicine cabinet and
pulled out her toothbrush and toothpaste.
She was going to put him to the task, see if he really wanted to make up
for last night, and she wanted to be prepared.
“I made coffee already.
I’ll bring you a cup with that French vanilla creamer you like.” He walked off toward the kitchen. Yeah…she’d never seen Sean this pliant. He must have been feeling really guilty.
She wasn’t going to say anything, although the bath looked
tempting.
She was rinsing out her mouth when he brought her the cup of
coffee. It smelled sweet. She saw his reflection in the mirror and she
smiled at him. She couldn’t help
it. He looked so cute, his damp hair
clinging to his head, his blue eyes telling her he was sorry. She turned around and took the cup from him
but set it on the countertop. He wrapped
his arms around her waist and so she gave him a tiny kiss on his lips. “Thanks for the coffee and the bath.”
“I’ll keep you company if you want.”
“If you do, I promise I will
make you late for work.”
His eyes grew darker.
“It’ll be worth it.” He kissed
her and, for a moment, she considered just skipping the bath altogether. But no.
She’d been waiting since last night.
Another few minutes of waiting wouldn’t hurt. When she opened her eyes, he said, “One of
the perks of owning your own business.”
She grinned. “If you
insist.” She grabbed a clip and pulled
her hair up off her neck, then walked over to the edge of the tub and pulled
his shirt over her head, then slid out of her panties and dipped her toe in the
water. The temperature was perfect…not
too hot and nowhere near cold. She
stepped into the tub and turned to see that Sean had already taken his
underwear off and was approaching her.
He wasn’t hard yet, and that was good, because she wanted to just relax
and enjoy the water for a while first.
“Should you get in first?”
He nodded and got in behind her, sat down and rested his
back against the tub. Then she sat
between his legs, resting her back on his chest, her head on his shoulder. The water level rose enough that she could
hear it trickling down through the overflow.
It smelled good. She had no idea
Sean even had bubble bath…and it smelled like strawberries. She realized then that she’d left her coffee
on the counter, which was probably okay.
She’d nuke it in the microwave later.
Right now, she was enjoying the warmth all around her body and feeling
her back up against Sean. She closed her
eyes and just relaxed.
After a few minutes, Sean finally whispered in her ear, “You
still mad at me?”
She smiled. She loved
the feel of his warm breath on her skin.
“What makes you think I was mad at you?”
He chuckled, forcing more air on her neck. She wasn’t going to be able to resist him
much longer. “You think I don’t know
when you’re upset with me?”
She felt her smile grow wider and she opened her eyes and
turned her head to look at him. “Are you
implying that I need to brush up on my acting skills?”
“No…your acting is fine.
You forget I know you pretty well.”
He slid his hands off his thighs onto hers. Yeah…he did know her well, well enough to
intuit that she wasn’t going to let him leave the apartment without having a
little fun first. So she wasn’t going to
wait any longer. She turned her head
just a little more and touched her lips to his.
And that was all it took to bring her back to the state she’d been in
the night before.
