WHAT HE NEVER KNEW, a standalone
teacher/student romance in the What He Doesn't Know series by bestselling
author Kandi Steiner is
live!
I never learn my lesson.
And I always want what I can’t have.
When Sarah Henderson walks into my life, I tell myself she’s off limits.
She’s my student, sixteen years younger than me, and my boss’s niece. It
doesn’t matter that I see the same pain reflected in her eyes that I have in my
own, or that the dead organ better known as my heart kicks to life when she’s
around.
I’ve been here before, and I know how this ends.
It’s been two years since I fell for the last woman I knew I couldn’t
have, the one with the ring on her finger that I chose to ignore.
Two years of trying to overcome that heartache when Sarah slides into my
life.
Another woman I can’t have. Another woman I can’t stop myself from
wanting.
I never learn my lesson, but with a constant reminder of how that last
forbidden love burned, I think I’ve finally learned this one.
This time, I won’t chase what’s off limits.
This time, I’m staying away.
And I’ll keep telling myself that until I believe it.

REVIEW:
I have waited what feels like FOREVER to have this characters HEA and to FINALLY get it, feels like coming home. HAPPY DANCE I NEEDED to know how he was going to get his HEA after having his (and my) heart ripped out in book 2, WHAT HE ALWAYS KNEW.
"I knew he saw the same pain in me that I saw in him. And maybe that was the only reason we saw it at all -- because we lived it. You had to understand what that felt like to be able to recognize it, like there was an exclusive club for the eternally heartbroken." -Sarah
This story was fussed with raw emotions. Visceral pain. Pain that I could feel while reading. Both these characters have been through SO MUCH heartache in their lives that they are both left feeling unworthy of love and damaged beyond repair. And if you've read books 1 and 2 in this series, you KNOW what type of pain HE'S been through. *tears* But through their mutual love of piano, they find hope, love, and healing. They were creating a song of their own, one that showed their ups and downs both in their personal situations and in their relationship together. Kandi Steiner does a beautiful job of telling a story about two characters that have to face their flaws and learn to live with them. Those flaws are a part of them and are very much still lovable.
"You make me feel worthy again, like I'm not damaged, like I'm cherished and revered and cared for." -Sarah.

It was like music to my soul to have this characters HEA. I am SO HAPPY that Kandi took the time to write HIS story. HE needed a HEA and he found that through Sarah. I do not want to give names in my review for fear that you (the person looking at my review) will get a spoiler because this is book THREE in the series and the series starts out as a love TRIANGLE...so inevitably one person is left heartbroken. BUT, as you can guess, the one that is left heartbroken, has his heart put back together in THIS book! So if you've read the first two books in this series, you WILL want to read this book.
My only "hang up" with this book was at times the pace was a bit slow for me, but this type of story needed slow, so the characters could build up to their crescendo of a relationship. But in comparison to the rest of the book, this minor "hang up" didn't ruin the story for me, I was still pulled in by Kandi's writing and the slow candance helped create a beautiful love story nonetheless.
"She was the light I never thought I'd see again, the purpose I thought I'd lost forever."
So if you're in the mood for a student/teacher/large age gap story, give this book a go!

About Kandi:
Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in
Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves
bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all
its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of
angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a
double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s
Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first
Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper
and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the
newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of
press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she
has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the
challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds,
talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and
family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days,
movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
