Kricket's Review:

I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again.   Katy Evans is an absolute MUST READ!  And she has done nothing to sway my opinion with her newest release, WOMANIZER.

Here's the thing.  I read for fun.  Therefore I tend to gravitate towards authors I know and trust.  Katy Evans is amidst greats like Nora Roberts, Jennifer Probst, Callie Hart, and Christina Lauren.   Though each of them have a style of their own, they each appeal to my ever wandering sense of adventure.  And I am a book whore to the max - because I fall for every one of the male leads.  They know exactly how to suck me in.

But enough about Katy and the others, and on to Callan and his womanizing ways.   Oddly enough, I feel a bit awkward even saying that.  Callan has been the mysteriously quiet bachelor throughout the Manwhore series, a character I have struggled to see as the philandering billionaire that he is described as.  WOMANIZER seems almost like an ironic title - like calling the giant who sat in front of you in science class "tiny".  We heard of the women who flaunt their attentions in Callan's direction, and sometimes their thoughts on his various attributes, but aside from Livvy, there is only ever one woman that he gives his attention to.  And even that is short lived, as he rides to the rescue of a heartbroken Wynn.  And while the irony of the title was not lost on me, I still found it refreshingly sweet to have the trio rounded out by yet another softy in the guise of a slutty dickslinger.  If you didn't know any better, the men who make up the Manwhore Series could be enough to have you moving to Chicago in hopes of finding your own.

And Olivia.  What can I say about Olivia.  A girl with a goal, one who might have been in denial but played it beautifully.  She didn't want to love him, but rather than woe is me I fell in love with the wrong guy, she passed it off.  For once, I didn't get annoyed with a lead female once.  I LOVED it.

But....there has to be pros and cons to every story.  That's the two sides of the coin.  Callan and Olivia were HOT from moment one.  Almost too hot, if that's possible.  There's a chance that some of their story may feel burned up by their sexy time - which they had A LOT of.  Funny, I don't usually complain about that, particularly with Katy, but I just loved Callan and Livvy so much that I wanted more of them.

All in all, I definitely recommend, and even loved it so much that I immediately purchased the Audible version of this one so I can listen to it over and over again while performing the mundane of daily life.

Series: Manwhore #5 Release Date: December 5th, 2016 Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:

You've seen the headlines: Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away!
We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more. But I had never been drawn to a guy the way I was drawn to this one: my brother's best friend, and CEO of the company where I interned.
Even knowing I should stay away, I proved to be too human, after all. The chemistry was amazing. The laughs were incredible. I opened up to him in more ways than I'd opened up to anyone before. But sex was as far as I'd go. Just sex because he was too irresistible. Just sex because I wouldn't be falling for him. Just sex because I'd leave in three months, and I'd like for my brother not to kill me, and for nobody to find out he was my wicked little secret. He wasn't the One. He was just a womanizer. But for a time, he would be mine.

Kricket's Review : EVERYWHERE AND EVERY WAY by Jennifer Probst

My first impression of this book was WHOA!  This is not Jennifer’s usual.  I was only half right.  All of the Probst charm was there, but there was a growth in this book that I hadn’t anticipated.  Don’t get me wrong - I’ve loved every J.P. story I’ve read, and didn’t think I could love this wonderful woman’s writing any more.  But something happened between Searching for Beautiful and Everywhere and Every Way.  Suddenly the contemporary romance I’d come to expect was cloaked traditional romantic appeal.  I know I’ve said this before, but I could feel Nora Roberts in every word that came from this story.  I felt connections to Montana Sky, a resemblance to the Quinn Brothers, and of course we can’t forget The Inn Boonsboro.  As an avid Roberts’ fan, this is the greatest compliment I can give an author.

But there was more to my love for this book than just the writing style.  I felt Caleb’s grief and loneliness, and I envied Morgan’s strength and resolve.  A small piece of the whole, I found myself craving more and more from the Pierce brothers.  The characters were written in such a realistic way that I couldn’t help but feel connected to them, and long for more the moment that the book ended.

I can’t forget to mention that I didn’t READ this book, but rather I LISTENED.   Madeline Maby is the voice I will forever associate with Jennifer’s stories, and I was thrilled to find her narrating the newest title.  As an added bonus, Sebastian York joined for Caleb’s narration.  Even my husband (who will never admit to actually listening to my books with me) thought that was a treat.  All in all, I can’t rave enough about the kick off to Probst’s newest series.  And it can’t come soon enough, as I’m already heartbroken over the loss of the Searching For series – and she hasn’t even released the last one yet!

To recap in case it wasn't clear, I'm once again giving Jennifer Probst 5 stars with a resounding YES in the referral box!  Definitely pick this one up, you won't regret it.

I cannot stress this enough - KATY EVANS DOES IT AGAIN!  I was quickly addicted to this brilliant author's writing after picking up REAL (Book 1, REAL Series).   I fell in love with every character she introduced through that first series, and fell in love with her writing all over again when I picked up the MANWHORE series.   Malcolm Saint and Rachel Livingston introduced us to Regina Wylde and Tahoe Roth, the leads of Katy's newest release - LADIES MAN (Book 4, MANWHORE Series).   While yes, this is a connected story, it can be read as a standalone.

My makeup is definitely my mask, the mask that makes me strong, pretty, whatever I want to be.  - Gina

Katy establishes early on in the book (for those that are just being introduced to her) that Gina is jaded and cynical when it comes to love.   The woman who's described as succulent and gorgeous is plagued by very real-life insecurities.   For her, confidence comes in the form of a mask - which makes her profession as a makeup artist perfect.  Her journey is one of learning to love what's beneath the mask as much as what comes with it, as well as opening herself to the possibility of real love.

Love should make you feel about yourself and about the person you are when you're with the one you love.  Love should make you feel accepted as you are.  - Tahoe

Tahoe Roth.   There's so much to be said for the tall, rugged Texan with the bright blue eyes and gleaming blond hair.   It's a unique character in today's books, the Viking rather than the traditional tall, dark, and brooding demigod.  Tahoe is perceived to be a rich playboy, but it's quickly learned that his true persona is loyal to that of the good ol' boy tone.  He is fiercely protective of Gina, and the closer they grow as friends, the more wisdom and softness she witnesses.   It's a sweet and humbling story for anyone who deems to judge a book by its cover

He stands with a group of men.  But Tahoe Roth is the only one I see.  - Gina

Bang him and get him out of your system.   That's the suggestion of Gina's friend, Wynn.  He's sexy, he's non-committal, he's the perfect one to break her disappointing abstinence spell.  But despite the undertones of sexuality and obvious attraction between the two, I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of sex.   Don't get me wrong, I love a good sex scene as much as the next person, but I've learned that with as much as I read, it can get repetitive.  It's nice to find a book that can hold its own without it.

I want to kiss you.   I want to take off your lipstick so all you have is my mouth on you.  - Tahoe

That is definitely not to say there are not swoon-worthy aspects to the story, and that you won't have moments of blushing and looking over your shoulder to make sure there are no prying eyes.   Katy blends the sweet, the hilarious, and the sexy into one highly consumable romance.   Definitely a 5 - star read where I'm concerned.
