REVIEW:

"Where there is ruin, there is hope for a treasure."

This was like no other love triangle I've E V E R read. This was my first historical pirate dark romance and all I can say is Pam exceeded ANY expectations I may have unknowingly set after seeing the first teasers she released for this book. I honestly didn't even read the blurb, I just blindly signed up and then after starting it, and realizing what direction the story was going in, I was elated. My "glutton for punishment heart" was in heaven with this book! It truly C O N S U M E D my life while I was reading it. Any conscious moment that I wasn't reading it, was filled with thoughts of this story and what was gonna happen next for Captain Bennett "Benedicta" Sharp and her men: Commodore Lord Ashley Cutler and Captain Priest Farrell. Pam sailed right into this story and she did not let up. It was like crashing wave after crashing wave of ruin, destruction and love. I cried, like take my breath away kinda crying (and I rarely cry in stories). I swooned. I hurt. I loved. I broke. I lusted. I gasped. I ached. I feared. I hoped. I forgave.

This diabolical, raw, painful, lustful and emotional love story had my heart in my throat. My heart raced, splintered and expanded. My mind raced with possibilities with every chapter I read. The twists and turns throughout the story were unpredictable and had me on the edge of my seat throughout 99.9% of the book. This story showed how you can truly love two people at the same time with the same unrelenting passion. The same fervor. The same possessiveness. "Love isn't a decision. It arrives unannounced, breeds madness, and leaves a sea of ruin in its wake."

Pam's writing was a Siren to my readers soul. I literally could NOT put this book down.Her story telling in this book was exceptional! Pam astounded me with everything about Bennett, Priest and Ashley's story. I literally felt like a seafaring pirate right along with them, living that type of life in the 1700's. Pam clearly did her research for this book. I was immersed in this fated and destined world and I couldn't leave until their adventure was done, no matter how turbulent it got. There WILL be a wreckage of ruins but

If you're in the mood for something D A R K and DIFFERENT, then u need this book! Don't let the genre dissuade you! It's worth trying something different, if you haven't read this genre before. Be warned, it is dark. Pam doesn't hold back in her detailing. This is the 1700's after all and the story is about a pirates life...which isn't lined in gold, unless they find a treasure. Trust in the journey across the seas with this story...at times it will be rough, but know that Pam will sail into an HEA.

NOTE: Read prequel...
Right now, the KING OF LIBERTINES, a prequel to SEA OF RUIN, is only available in AUSTRALIA: a limited-time romance anthology. Pam plans to eventually release it in a novella, but for now the only way to read it is if you buy that book. It's my personal opinion, but I think it would be advantageous to the reader to have read this prequel BEFORE reading the full book. It sets up the one of the relationship (Bennett and Priest's) and without it, I think you need that relationship beginning and development in order to build a connection with them as a couple.
